About The Event

Traditionally, National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer. It's also a great way to utilize the one night a year when you don't need to collect signatures to shut down your street for a community gathering. So whatever, your goals are for National Night Out, get out there and build community with your neighbors because a safer, friendlier city starts one block at a time.

ABOUT US

The Greater San Antonio Neighborhood Council includes residents from the beats 19x, 18x, and 18y: From Lake Merritt, down International Blvd to the 23rd and the Embarcadero, and above San Antonio Park to 580.

We gather bi-monthly over Zoom and occasionally in-person to discuss the needs of our neighborhoods and work with the Deputy City Administrator and other city officials to affect change.

In February 2025, the city of Oakland dissolved the Neighborhood Services Department, which organized and provided support to the Neighborhood Councils across the city. It is up to communities to carry on these organizations and continue to meet with the city to promote our needs, voice our concerns, and build safer, stronger neighborhoods.
